A walk on the wild side...

Red lights, seedy alley ways, men lurking in the shadows…

The Daily Planet...yes we all know is the office of Clark Kent and Lois Lane from the Superman series...Well not anymore, The Daily Planet in Melbourne is the largest brothel in the Southern Hemisphere and is a publicly listed company. It is a massive structure and advertises itself in bold neon lights in the way McDonalds would and makes no apologies for its existence.  This is a serious business and run like one accountable to its shareholders.

Lipstick Confessions

I spent the best part of this morning hunting through handbags for my new lipstick.
I confess I'm a bit manic about my lipsticks. I don't own many and when I finally find a colour I like I wear it to death.   I realised this morning to my horror my brand-new lipstick had been lost. This lipstick I'd only purchased on Friday and if I'm honest I was loving my new pouty lips with a good measure of colour and gloss.  This lipstick was a replacement for one I'd owned previously and it was only because I'd worn out it's predecessor that a new one had to be sourced.I was literally scraping it out of the case.

Whatever happened to?

Whatever happened to catching up with the girls for a day or night out!

In my 20's it was motivated by going out with my girlfriends to find a boyfriend.

In my 30's it was a joint venture with the boyfriends and the girlfriends and because we were all grown up we'd do the couple thing!

Then when you became single again you would still hang out with the couples;hoping you wouldn't have to wait long to find Mr.Right so you wouldn't feel so damned uncomfortable and out of place.

Shop til you drop!

Ok girls, so you all know how to shop, you know why you shop: whether it is for pleasure, social interaction with your girlfriends, a need to have the latest fashion must have or simply there a just some things a girl needs.

Whatever your personal  motivation I am reliably informed there are shopper classifications which those in retail look for to make the sale.

So here's the criteria so you can be more shop savvy at the point of sale.

Firstly, there is the social shopper:
this type of shopper wants to get to know the shop assistant, by having a chat and a latte and learning more about them gaining confidence in the relationship and after feeling they know them will make a purchase.

Sorry, Wrong Number

Has it happened to you ? Well, it’s finally happened to me.

I was getting dinner ready the other night when I hear the familiar ping! indicating a text message on my phone. I stopped stirring the pot to glance at the message.

Assuming it would be a message about organising a girls night out I am totally unprepared when I read the message.

The message reads…..Hey Jo .Nice to meet u last night. Thanks for ur number. Just at work would be great to catch up again .

I struggle with the reality that the message is not for me .. OK so now what do  I do? Do I answer , delete the message, phone a girlfriend for advice?

Flower Power

Who of us doesn’t love to receive a bunch of flowers?

What is it about these lovely blooms that make us feel all warm and fuzzy?

We integrate them into all the important stages of our lives – birth, birthdays, Valentine’s Day, Mothers Day, Wedding and even in death.

Is it that these poignant petals being a living thing together with their sheer beauty and simplicity inspire us, flatter us, and express emotions when perhaps words are not sufficient?

Believe it or not?

(Cue Spooky Music!) I have always had a fascination with those of us that profess to have a second sense about the future.  I regularly read my horoscope.  The common sense part of my brain says it’s all one size fits all! And I am only one of a zillion Gemini’s but I still am drawn to the prospect that “something” undefinable in the universe likes me and will give me a good report for the coming week.  What can I say! – it’s my idea of a little fun self indulgence.
Curiosity about the future is something we all have – will there be romance?  Will Mr. Right arrive on his white horse? Will there be money? A great job? Happy life? Health? Will I travel?

So to the real story, my girlfriend and I decided to attend our Tick The Box advertised “Freaky Friday” event.  So with excitement and anticipation we drove to the venue, naturally it was a dark, cold winter’s night

Between the Sheets...

I say Pyjamas, you say PJ’s or it is a nightie or your man’s oversized t-shirt or do you do skin?

What do our pyjamas say about us?

We all spend hours, days and months finding that special outfit for a wedding, a ball, the races, a first date, but how much time do we spend shopping for our night wear?

Let them eat cake...

I had brunch with a girlfriend today and by coincidence we share the same birthday.
It has become an annual ritual that we always catch up for our birthdays and exchange gifts.
I pride myself on buying thoughtful and relevant gifts and spend time selecting just the right something.

First Love

Of course, I remember my first love...

I recalled a brief attachment to the high school sports star, let’s call him Ben. Ben gave me greater credibility to hang with the cool kids:- he was confident in a bad boy way, prepared to speak up and talk back.  I on the other hand was the class so called “goody goody”, over studious, never late for school, the school captain...you get the picture.
